Butchershop is looking for a Senior Digital Experience Strategist who can bring strategic leadership and a unique point of view to develop thoughtful and inspiring digital products, services and experiences for our client partners. You will be a leader among a team of strategists, designers, writers, technologists, producers, and project managers who are passionate about creating innovative work that helps brands break into emerging markets or break out to lead them.
As a leader on our growing Experience Strategy team, you’ll use your experience in the field to lead digital strategy work across multiple projects (85%) and work with the Experience Strategy Director to help evolve our experience strategy practice (15%). On day-to-day client work, you will work directly with senior and C-level clients to solve big business challenges and be responsible for crafting research and discovery plans that lead to unique insights and translate those into creative strategies for leveraging digital technologies to connect brands with their customers. You’ll work on collaborative cross-disciplinary teams advocating for a human-centered design process across every stage of the project lifecycle, ensuring that the concept, design, and development decisions are sensitive to the needs of our clients’ businesses, the user, and the brand experience.

You are a multi-faceted strategic thinker with experience across a range of projects, and can confidently apply your strategy toolkit to a wide spectrum of challenges across the digital landscape – from defining product-service ecosystems from the ground up and digital transformation initiatives, to crafting a product strategy or evolving an existing digital experience. You may or may not have a technical background, but you are adept at knowing how and when to leverage existing and emerging technologies.
You understand and are never intimidated by complex business organizations. You can see the creative opportunities in every assignment and vertical – whether B2B or B2C. You are curious, always looking for new ways of doing things or experimenting with new methods, passionate about unpacking the nuances of human behavior and motivations, and you delight in finding solutions that artfully balance user needs, business goals, technical constraints, and brand. You can articulate why a creative decision makes strategic sense for a brand’s business objectives and target audience. You possess quick, clear thinking, with the ingenuity and drive to solve problems on the spot.
Lead digital strategy on 2-3 client projects within multidisciplinary project teams
Advocate for keeping user experience and user-centered design best practices and methodologies at the center of how we create intuitive, innovative, and beautiful digital experiences and products.
Work across every stage of the digital and product lifecycle to ensure that the concepts, design, and development decisions are sensitive to the needs of users, our clients’ businesses, and the brand experience.
Define and conduct user research to understand user needs and produce meaningful insights to guide the user experience.
Define and execute user testing to evaluate concepts or designs
Partner with the Performance Team to incorporate qualitative and quantitative data to drive design decision making
Lead experience concepting, ideating as to what experience(s) to offer users.
Design and facilitate workshops with clients and internal teams
Develop personas, journey maps, user stories, product roadmaps, and/or an initial set of prospective features, helping to determine the path(s) forward
Lead experience definition, define experience principles, and develop UX strategy briefs to help guide the team through IA, content strategy, wireframes, and prototypes
Build relationships with client partners
Present work and recommendations to internal and external teams
In collaboration with project teams, balance the design, technical, and business implications associated with strategic recommendations
Desired Skills & Experience
A minimum of 6 years experience as a digital product strategist/digital experience strategist
A background in user experience, service design, HCI, digital brand, information architecture, mobile applications, product management, and/or digital transformation
Ability to contribute to the work, from concept to completion, with an understanding of the design, technical and business implications with the ability to make sound strategic recommendations
Experience leading the kick off and discovery of a project, ultimately serving as the connective tissue across the entirety of the product development process
Experience designing and facilitating user research and user testing – both quantitative and qualitative
Experience designing and facilitating workshops with clients and internal teams
Experience collaborating with designers, writers and developers to build systems that enable a best-in-class user experience
Expertise in concepting and ideating digital experiences including developing; personas, customer journey maps, digital ecosystem maps, user stories, product roadmaps and requirements
