Butchershop is looking for a Senior UX Designer who can bring UX leadership and a unique point of view to develop thoughtful and inspiring digital products, services and experiences for our client partners. You will be a leader among a team of strategists, designers, writers, technologists, producers, and project managers who are passionate about creating innovative work that helps brands break into emerging markets or break out to lead them.

As a key member of our growing UX team, you’ll use your experience in the field to lead UX work across client projects. 

On day-to-day client work, you’ll be responsible for translating research insights and business goals and strategy into creative digital experiences, products, and services that connect brands with their customers. You’ll own the execution of how our UX strategy comes to life through concepting, wire-framing, prototyping and validating. You’ll work on collaborative cross-disciplinary teams advocating for a human-centered design process across every stage of the project lifecycle, ensuring that the concept, design, and development decisions are sensitive to the needs of our clients’ businesses, the user, and the brand experience.

Job Functions

  • Lead UX design on 2-3 client projects within multidisciplinary project teams.

  • Work across every stage of the digital experience and product lifecycle to ensure that the concepts, design, and development decisions are sensitive to the needs of users, our clients’ businesses, and the brand experience. 

  • Lead and execute digital experience definition, including UX strategy, IA, interaction models, content strategy, wireframes, prototypes, and validation.

  • Partner with design, writing, and development to establish UI specs, page and/or screen-specific copy and creative assets and help develop the systems that will enable a best-in-class user experience.

  • Define and execute user testing to evaluate concepts or designs.

  • Design and facilitate workshops with clients and internal teams.

  • Contribute to (and on occasion lead) discovery, user research, and experience strategy development.

  • Develop development ready documentation to hand-off to internal or external development teams.

  • Collaborate with development team to ensure flawless implementation of designs through final delivery.

  • Build relationships with client partners.

  • In collaboration with project teams, balance the design, technical, and business implications associated with UX recommendations.

  • Present work and recommendations to internal and external teams. 

  • Partner with the Performance Team to incorporate qualitative and quantitative data to drive design decision making.

  • Advocate for keeping user experience and user-centered design best practices and methodologies at the center of how we create intuitive, innovative, and beautiful digital experiences and products.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in UX design, ideally across multiple channels, including web, mobile and native applications. Experiential, physical, voice, or AR/VR are nice to have, but not required.

  • A background in UX design, HCI, interaction design, product design, information architecture, mobile applications. and/or web design.

  • Practical understanding of capabilities and limitations of digital technologies and how to design for platforms and with design systems.

  • Experience collaborating with designers, writers and developers to build systems that enable a best-in-class user experience.

  • Strong conceptual thinking and ability to come up with innovative, smart concepts, grounded in research and insights – and then execute those concepts to completion.

  • Experience designing modular, scalable systems that creatively apply consistent interface patterns across a variety of use cases and device types.

  • Experience designing and facilitating user testing – both quantitative and qualitative.

  • Proficiency with Figma, Adobe CC, Sketch, Principle and can adapt to new tools as they become available.

  • Knowledge of design systems, agile methodologies, and Service Design.

  • Ability to take the lead and work autonomously as well as in close collaboration with the team.

  • Experience interacting directly with clients and the ability to build relationships, understand client vision/direction and present designs and concepts with thoughtful rationale and storytelling.
