Lightspeed’s big opportunity on Hollywood’s biggest night
Celebrities continue to transition from entertainers to entrepreneurs. With venture-backed businesses like Gwenyth Paltrow’s Goop and Jessica Alba’s The Honest Company, Lightspeed Venture Partners is at the forefront of the trend. When their newest partner, Lady Gaga, was dual-nominated at the Oscars for her performance in A Star Is Born, Lightspeed wanted to publicly celebrate her in the media.
The campaign achieved three things: It sincerely congratulated Gaga, attracted future celebrity entrepreneurs in search of a VC partner, and made Lightspeed known as the most logical choice to help entrepreneurs extend their cultural impact. We used a letter format to keep the focus on Gaga’s success, while subtly plugging Lightspeed in the signature.
The Hollywood Reporter’s Oscar Edition carried full-page ads of the campaign – and were placed inside every celebrity’s red carpet limousine en route to the Academy Awards.
